Our Mission

At Peyton’s Ranch, we believe that animals can greatly improve quality of life for children with debilitating and life-threatening illnesses.  Our goal is to bring them comfort, relaxation and joy through positive interactions with their favorite animals.

Children facing life-threatening illnesses, like cancer, are forced to live with bodies that don’t work the way they should or once did. They are unable to experience and interact in their world they way they have come to know, and are forced to adapt and adjust to a new way of living.  Sometimes they are confined to a stroller, wheel chair, sofa or bed.  They are unable to play with their brothers, sisters and friends the way they used too.  They often sit with little to do, easily becoming bored and depressed.

Holding a small comfort critter in their lap can provide a great distraction, bring joy, ease worries, and almost always comes with a smile. Everyone knows that animals are great companions and fun to be around, but did you know that touching and interacting with animals can relieve stress and reduce anxiety?  It can also provide relaxation, lower blood pressure, and improve memory and sensory stimuli.  Even if benefits only include big smiles and stimulated conversation, these little critters provide so much joy!
